Dates to remember:

October 6th : Visited the plot of land available.

October 12th : Met with dan & signed off on which house plan we want, and what kind of changes we know we want in the house.  Decided we wanted the smaller house, as we will always only be a 3-person family, and picked a lot that opens to a natural reserve.  However, we decided to upgrade the master bath to have more marble 7 lighting & doors & shower heads.   We also discussed that too many changes after this point may be subject to being charged additional fees.. but we discussed everything we wanted changed (like sky lights & an arch & more windows & tankless heater).  Dan let us know where we should buy it & bring it to him to save money, and where he can deal with it when they are building that part of the house.

November 10th : The ground is finally broken on our new plot.  4 more months from this date, if the weather is good.

December 7th : Met with Emerald Glass and picked out Windows (white vs tan.. picked White), door knob handles (a black/bronze), # of windows (increased size of back windows +$50) , & window design in upper bathroom (flowery +$25), & discussed skylights.  Also, picked out a Stove (found a dented one for less than normal, with a food warmer & extra Grilling center - exactly what we want!), and a dishwasher (upgraded that).  Looked at a fridge for 25cu for $2100.

December 21st : After a week of below-freezing weather, we have a floor!  (see video above).  We also have instructions to find Skylights for cheaper than Emerald (350 - lowes has them for $200), and a tankless water heater (Lowes has for $1450 + $350 kit... online is $1150 + $250 kit).  Although we have spent $75 over thru our contracter, we are down from A) No water heater, B) spending less on the stove.  Fridges seem to be a pretty regular price.. 25cu for $2100 for a good bottom-freezer.
